چکیده

1. The binding of prostaglandin A2 and prostaglandin F2, to human plasma proteins was investigated by DEAE-Sephadex chromatography and polyacrylamide-gel electrophoresis. Both prostaglandins, when added to human plasma in vitro, were found to become bound mainly to plasma albumin. 2. The extent of binding of prostaglandins added to human plasma in low to moderate concentrations was found to be approx. 88, 73 and 58% for prostaglandins A2, E2 and F20, respectively. The order of affinities for the binding of the three prostaglandins to albumin appear to be A2 >E2 >F2X. 3. The apparent association constants for the binding of these prostaglandins to human serum albumin were estimated to be approx. 4.8 x 104, 2.4 x 104 and 0.9 x 104 litre/mol for prostaglandins A2, E2 and F2", respectively. The results are compared with previously reported association constants for the binding of long-chain fatty acids to both human and bovine albumins.

Characterization of antibody-mediated neutralization directed against the hypervariable region 1 of hepatitis C virus E2 glycoprotein

The hypervariable region 1 (HVR1) comprising the first 27 aa of E2 glycoprotein is a target for neutralizing antibodies against hepatitis C virus (HCV), but the mechanisms of this neutralization in the cell-culture-infectious genotype 2a strain JFH1 HCV virus (HCVcc) system are unknown. Two rabbit polyclonal sera, R1020 and R140, recognizing the HVR1 of the genotype 1a isolates H77c and Glasgow...

Symbolic Alternative Characterizations of Testing Preorders for Regular Timed Processes

This abstraction can be nitely possible for the regular class of real-time communicating processes. Tidal Excitation of Modes in Binary Systems with Applications to Binary Pulsars

We consider the tidal excitation of modes in a binary system of arbitrary eccentricity. For a circular orbit, the modes generally undergo forced oscillation with a period equal to the orbital period (T ). For an eccentric orbit, the amplitude of each tidally excited mode can be written approximately as the sum of an oscillatory term that varies sinusoidally with the mode frequency and a `static...

Gains from diversification on convex combinations: A majorization and stochastic dominance approach

By incorporating both majorization theory and stochastic dominance theory, this paper presents a general theory and a unifying framework for determining the diversification preferences of risk-averse investors and conditions under which they would unanimously judge a particular asset to be superior. In particular, we develop a theory for comparing the preferences of different convex combination...

Improved immunogenicity of tetanus toxoid by Brucella abortus S19 LPS adjuvant.

BACKGROUND Adjuvants are used to increase the immunogenicity of new generation vaccines, especially those based on recombinant proteins. Despite immunostimulatory properties, the use of bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS) as an adjuvant has been hampered due to its toxicity and pyrogenicity. Brucella abortus LPS is less toxic and has no pyrogenic properties compared to LPS from other gram negati...
